We’re launching a training academy for our SaaS platform and want to avoid the “set it and forget it” trap.
If you’ve built a product academy, what elements made it truly effective, especially for onboarding, upskilling, and certifications?
Things like content structure, engagement tools, or integration with other systems – share what helped you keep users coming back and seeing real value.
Start with learner personas. We created separate learning tracks for customers, partners, and internal teams. It helped us tailor content more effectively to each group.
For example, customers get quick-start guides, while partners dive into advanced integrations – kept everyone engaged without irrelevant stuff.
We use milestone-based certification paths,Level 1, then Level 2, and finally Expert. It creates a sense of progression and keeps learners engaged.
Certifications at each level motivated users to keep going for that next badge.
People won’t complete training if they can’t figure out where to start. I think self-enrollment and intuitive navigation are key.
We added clear paths and search functions so users could jump in without hand-holding.
Gamification made a real difference. Adding badges and progress bars boosted course completion by 30%. Learners really respond to milestones 🎯
It turned dry product info into something competitive and fun, especially for sales teams.
Microlearning all the way! Short, video-based modules worked best for us,they’re easier to digest and completion rates improved significantly.
We broke down complex topics into 5-10 min bites, and users could fit them into busy days without feeling overwhelmed.
